Dr Mustafa Al-Qaysi
Dr. Mustafa Qaysi graduated in 2012 and has travelled the world, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience through his work in Africa, Malaysia, and Australia. He brings a special interest in general medicine, women’s health, pediatrics, chronic medical disease, mental health, and critical care, and is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to his patients with a warm and friendly approach. As a graduate of Africa, Dr. Mustafa brings a unique perspective to the diverse needs of our community and is excited to start practising at Salamander Bay. He looks forward to getting to know you and your family and is committed to helping the local community achieve better health outcomes. We are thrilled to have Dr. Mustafa on board and are confident that he will be an excellent addition to our team. He is eager to meet you and provide the best care possible.
Dr Kaliane Silva Fraife
Dr Kaliane Fraife is a female general practitioner who graduated from The Medical School of New Iguacu, Brazil, in 2014. She worked as a GP in Sydney and South West Rocks before moving permanently with her family to Port Stephens. Dr Kaliane is currently a member of the Practice Experienced Program of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners towards a GP fellowship.

Areas of special interest are:Women’s and Children’s health, Chronic disease management, geriatrics, and adult and mental health. Dr Kaliane is training to obtain a Professional Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine and will soon commence treating patients for skin cancer-related conditions.
Dr Marat Abdulaev
Dr Marat Abdulaev graduated from medical university in Russia in 1999. He developed his professional career in the field of Vascular and Cardiac surgery.
He has been working in Australia since 2015. He has completed 6 years of additional surgical training in Australia. Then he worked in Emergency Department and finally decided to dedicate his further professional career to General practice.
Dr Marat Abdulaev practices patient-centered care, whole person approach, he has a special interest in the following areas:
Management of chronic disease
- Mental health
- Skin conditions
- Varicose veins, leg ulcers
Dr Mehrnaz Samet
Dr Mehrnaz Samet is a female general practitioner who graduated from medical school in Iran in 2007. She has worked as a GP in the Upper Hunter Valley before moving permanently to Port Stephens. Dr Samet is a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Fellowship Support Program. Areas of special interest include women’s health, mental health and chronic disease management.
Dr Marie Shieh
Dr Marie Shieh has over 20 years of experience as a family doctor in the U.S., New Zealand, China and Australia.
Caring for people in a holistic way is what she enjoys most and does best. Her full spectrum of care extends from shared care in obstetrics and the care of babies to palliative care and all that lies in between. Her qualifications include Board Certification in the U.S. and FRACGP in Australia.
Dr Zahraa Alassaf
Dr. Zahraa Alassaf has worked in many hospitals in the Hunter New England region. She is currently preparing for a fellowship with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Her main areas of interest are women’s health, chronic disease management, mental health and pain management.
Dr Zahraa is trained in IUD (including Mirena) and Implanon insertion. She is a valued doctor within our clinic.
Dr Ali Dckrama
Dr Ali has been working with HNE LHD for almost 2 and a half years. He also works at Belmont Hospital ED ,where he sees a lot of geriatric patients with chronic and complex issues. Dr Ali has gained many skills and is very interested in skin lesion and skin cancer diagnosis and procedures, obstetrics and gynaecology. In addition, the Paediatric age group is another field in which he is most interested in. Dr Ali works on Saturdays from 9am – 1.30pm.
Dr Somaya Elsheikh
Dr Somaya is currently completing her Medical training program with a keen interest in paediatric care. She has also completed a Diploma in Paediatrics and is very interested in all aspects of general medicine.
Dr Somaya works Thursdays and Fridays.

Achievements: Completing my university degree. I have over 16 years of working experience as a Physiotherapist. Over the course of my 16 year career including case management of sports Injury, Post-operative cases management, management of neurological conditions and musculoskeletal cases, in addition to pain management and manual therapy, As I have worked as Senior Specialist of Physiotherapist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital which is one of the biggest hospitals in Kuwait for Rehabilitation and in AL SAFA SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL in Egypt.

Barry is a licensed acupuncturist with more than 30 years of experience in Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Body Work and Hypnosis. He has practised in the United States, New Zealand, China and now in Australia. He treats people with a variety of problems including-

Andrew Maher
Diabetic Educator

Andrew was born and raised on a dairy farm in the Hunter Valley. He attended University at Western Sydney, Richmond – Bachelor of Nursing 2003, Graduate Certificate Diabetes Education and Management (University of Technology Sydney 2013), ADEA Credentialled Diabetes Educator 2013, Master of Nurse Practitioner 2020 (University of Newcastle). He has practiced Diabetes Education and management in regional, rural and remote areas of NSW and the Northern Territory and has presented at International Conferences on Diabetes Technology.
